Challenge

ER24 wanted transparent voice connectivity independent of whether there was a network failure from their Telco providers. ER24 required SIP based connectivity across fibre as a primary out and inbound solution while maintaining Telkom PRI’s as redundancy should Activate Telecoms’ SIP network be unavailable.

Imperial Vending has earned a reputation for outstanding service and quality and is always on the lookout for new ways to enhance this brand image. The company has used technology to improve service excellence since entering the vending business in the early 90’s. Handheld route systems, for instance, have helped Imperial Vending closely monitor customer consumption profiles and maintain transparent and accurate reporting for customer commissions. Another key reason to move to wireless technology was to improve operational efficiency. Imperial Vending had already attempted another solution for advance assembly of delivery orders, a technique known in the industry as pre-kitting. However, Imperial Vending found that their pre-kits were often significantly inaccurate because of unpredictable variations in account sales. While this early test of pre-kitting helped get drivers on their way from the warehouse more quickly, it did little to help with route efficiency and keeping fresh products in customer vending machines.

Algae Lab Systems contacted B-Scada when a customer of theirs was looking for a way to aggregate data from several hundred AlgaeConnect™ systems, each with several photobioreactors/ponds, in a single system. The AlgaeConnect™ system allows for monitoring and controlling of the equipment in clusters of reactors, as well as logging and graphing data, along with some other functions, but still lacked the ability to integrate the data from multiple AlgaeConnect™ deployments through a single interface with the custom graphics they desired. Therefore, the customer wanted a centralized interface through which to access their data, and they wanted it to be composed of graphics they chose.

Establish an efficient system of knowledge management and optimize business processes.

The researchers know from past experience that some banks do take security of their mobile applications seriously. These are the banks the researchers work with on a daily basis. Given no application in the sample set achieved an A or B rating, it emphasises how much in the minority these banks are.

Customers of Nebraska Engineering Company (NECO) needed the capability to know the grain dryer’s status at all times while couldn’t afford to have someone at the dryer all the time to ensure it is doing what it is supposed to do.

Kaunas Energija's Heat and Power Plants were distributed across the country, including in places lacking an internet connection. This made supervision and maintenance difficult and expensive.

1) Deliver a connected digital product system to protect and increase the differentiated value of Haemonetics blood and plasma solutions. 2) Improve patient outcomes by increasing the efficiency of blood supply flows. 3) Navigate and satisfy a complex web of global regulatory compliance requirements. 4) Reduce costly and labor-intensive maintenance procedures.

When it came to modernisation of the existing compressed air station, the company’s management decided to opt for a compressed air contracting arrangement to ensure that the compressed air supply would always meet the latest technical standards and be capable of taking advantage of the benefits that Industry 4.0 has to offer – and not least due to the frequent fluctuations in demand in the automotive supplier industry. In this operator model, the compressed air station itself remains the property of the air system provider, whilst the customer simply uses the compressed air as needed, just like power from an electrical socket, paying only for the volume of compressed air actually used – and always at the same fixed rate. From an accounting perspective, this effectively turns fixed costs into variable costs. At Scholz, the new station was installed in a space-saving container on the roof of the company building.

Solution

The proposed solution consisted of two Com.X2 SIP Gateway devices each with their own:

-SIP interconnect to Activate Telecom

-Telkom PRI connection In order to provide a flexible and dynamic, high availability interconnect between the existing PBX’s and the available Telecom and IP networks, the following load balancing switch paths were provide

-Traffic failover between each Activate Telecom SIP service

-Traffic failover between each Telkom PRI line

Imperial Vending got started by installing Cantaloupe Systems’ Seed in 200 snack and soda machines on three adjacent routes in the Tulsa area. This initial implementation was fully deployed within 90 days and Imperial Vending began using Seed technology in parallel with the existing pre-kitting software to verify effective operation. After the Seed trial proved to be a success, the company continued to expand the implementation rapidly. Imperial Vending now has Seed technology deployed in five of its nine markets and has approximately 4,500 machines connected to Seed.

B-Scada's product suite comprising an IoT platform, wireless sensors and SCADA software were employed in various means to come up with solutions to address the aforementioned challenge.

User's request was to choose a technology platform that fully corresponds to the business case scenarios for complete knowledge management.

In addition, functional and non-functional requirements that selected technology platform must meet were stated.

Based on the above, multiple platforms were tested and IBM Connections was chosen as the best solution. It was also the only solution that met all of the company's  functional and non-functional requirements.

During the project, to better integrate the system to the environment, additional adjustments and upgrades were carried out on the Connections system.

IBM Connections technology platform comprises IBM 'best-of-breed' components in a package form (i.e. unique product). Connections represent the integration of social network functionality for business, Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system for advanced work with documents and sets of tools (i.e. widgets) to support team work with projects.

New European regulations are putting more requirements on organisations to keep their customers’ data safe. The basis of the requirement is that the customer owns their data and an organisation “borrowing” that data has a duty of care over the information and needs to use “state of the art” security to keep customer data from fallings into unauthorised hands. Any lapses in that duty can result in large fines (up to €20m or 4% of turnover, whichever is higher).

NECO is equipped with a gateway which collects live data from NECO Commander Dryer Control and sends that data to Digi Device Cloud over a cellular connection. Device Cloud then passes the information to NECO’s custom web application, COMMANDnet, so it’s easily accessible and actionable for farmers, dealers and NECO.

A MPC-143 controller with GSM / GPRS, heating systems, pressure measures, and remote environmental monitoring sensors are integrated in a small 12V battery powered device.

Built on Bright Wolf’s Strandz platform and leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud storage, Haemonetics won IoT Evolution App of the Year in 2015. Through their partnership with Bright Wolf, Haemonetics released HaemoCloud, connecting the blood supply chain from donation to transfusion. The new system works directly with their existing HaemoCommunicator suite – connecting all Haemonetics sensors and devices in order to format and transfer device information, as well as collect and manage operational data, and send it to the AWS cloud. HaemoCloud also integrates with hospital and other institutional information systems to store and share information with relevant hospital and IT staff, creating a seamless data experience for customers. Data collected in HaemoCloud will allow Haemonetics to build preventative maintenance algorithms and provide customers industry-leading device performance. The system’s flexible architecture also enables Haemonetics to take advantage of new market opportunities and grow with new offerings from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the future.

Following a detailed compressed air audit to identify the company’s exact compressed air needs, Scholz’s compressed air station was designed to incorporate the very latest technology, including all of the features that today’s advanced stations should offer. Of course, first and foremost, this includes outstanding reliability, quality and efficiency, as well as impressive energy savings. In addition, ease of maintenance together with networking and integrated control features consistent with the Industry 4.0 environment also play a key role, not least in laying the foundation for predictive maintenance. A safety concept was also devised. The data gathered during the analysis were input into the new system's controller – a SIGMA AIR MANAGER 4.0 (SAM 4.0) in this case – and therefore provide the foundation for highly-efficient operation of the entire system. Since the compressors and compressed air treatment components are equipped with integrated industrial PC technology, they are able to forward their data to a master controller. This master controller monitors all components, as well as the environmental and production conditions. is also able to precisely adapt compressed air production to match the company’s actual compressed air requirement. Furthermore, amongst many other key benefits, the SAM 2 optimises pressure values, automatically adjusts compressor system air delivery to accommodate fluctuating air demand and optimises system efficiency through constant analysis of the relationship between control losses, switching losses and pressure flexibility. This advanced controller also enables the compressed air station to benefit from future services, such as predictive maintenance. The controller also allows remote diagnostics capability. If requested by the customer, this option means that performance data are constantly sent to a data centre operated by the compressed air system provider for monitoring. The master controller independently analyses the situation at all times and, if appropriate, sends a message to the service team, or directly to the local installation technician or the central data centre. The air system provider’s central data centre then acts as the dispatching point for all further activities – worldwide.

Customer

Imperial Vending is Oklahoma’s largest vending company. Lance Whorton, President of Imperial Vending, joined company owner, Paul Tims, in late 2001. Both Whorton and Tims are involved in the daily running of the business and Whorton now oversees all sales and operations for Imperial Vending.

Algae Lab Systems provides Monitoring and Control systems for two industries: the commercial algae growing industry and the aquaculture industry. Their systems enable customers to optimize their productivity, and save them time by automating their quality control processes. They provide a turnkey Photobioreactor Monitoring and Control system designed to help optimize algae yield. Their AlgaeConnect™ platform integrates the data from sensors: pH, temperature, DO, density, flow rate, water level, and many others into a cohesive software/hardware platform. The system monitors, stores, and displays all status parameters of the photobioreactors, and also automates their behavior with controlled CO2 or nutrient dosing, and activation of other devices like harvesting pumps and valves.

Thanks to the longstanding collaboration of Object Information Systems Ltd. and APIS IT Ltd., the idea of introducing a social business solution to latter company has arisen. From the very beginning of the project, they have participated in each phase of the Project Knowledge Management.

Horst Scholz GmbH & Co. KG is a manufacturer of precision plastic parts. These include products used in medical technology and precision engineering parts, destined primarily for the automotive industry. The medical sector in particular insists on stringent requirements to ensure high product quality – and it’s no different when it comes to the quality standards for the compressed air the company relies on for control and process air.

The master controller independently analyses the situation at all times and, if appropriate, sends a message to the service team, or directly to the local installation technician or the central data centre. Imperial Vending is Oklahoma’s largest vending company. Lance Whorton, President of Imperial Vending, joined company owner, Paul Tims, in late 2001. Both Whorton and Tims are involved in the daily running of the business and Whorton now oversees all sales and operations for Imperial Vending.

Algae Lab Systems provides Monitoring and Control systems for two industries: the commercial algae growing industry and the aquaculture industry. Their systems enable customers to optimize their productivity, and save them time by automating their quality control processes. They provide a turnkey Photobioreactor Monitoring and Control system designed to help optimize algae yield. Their AlgaeConnect™ platform integrates the data from sensors: pH, temperature, DO, density, flow rate, water level, and many others into a cohesive software/hardware platform. The system monitors, stores, and displays all status parameters of the photobioreactors, and also automates their behavior with controlled CO2 or nutrient dosing, and activation of other devices like harvesting pumps and valves.

Thanks to the longstanding collaboration of Object Information Systems Ltd. and APIS IT Ltd., the idea of introducing a social business solution to latter company has arisen. From the very beginning of the project, they have participated in each phase of the Project Knowledge Management.

Using B-Scada’s Status software, Algae Lab Systems was able to develop a solution that employed custom graphics and allowed their customer to aggregate data from multiple AlgaeConnect™ deployments. B-Scada was involved to help provide some custom functionality and support.
