The Challenge

The client needed a new solution based on a fleet management system to track its vehicles’ locations around Europe and provide real-time analytics that allowed a more efficient exploitation of its valuable fleet and personnel resources and calculation of the amount of fees to be paid by different types of vehicles based on route distances. The main challenge was to boost the system’s performance, enable multi-tenant architecture, support the program in hosted/on-premise mode and provide availability in multiple languages.

The Solution

Taking into account specific requirements of this project, we decided to step away from the standard MEAN stack and use postGIS/PostgreSQL to develop a solution that provides a real-time location status for all assets on one dashboard, with full fleet metrics, maintenance scheduling, instant alerts and reports. Eliftech’s solution included the creation of an internationalization mechanism, geofence, alarm notification, dashboard and security modules. A routing module implemented the calculation of fees. We improved performance by using server-side instead of client-side paging. We optimized API to reduce the amount of requests to the database and optimized the client by reducing the amount of requests to API. The project architecture was created to support two deployment types – on-premise and hosted app – and we implemented multi-tenant architecture.
